How to setup Infuse to play your videos from a network shared drive
After setting up the HooToo travel router and a shared folder on a Mac mini, I needed an app to play video files from the network shared drives to an iPad and iPhone.
Infuse and Infuse Pro by Firecore is one of the apps I use for playing the video. The base version of Infuse is very capable with Infuse Pro having additional capabilities. The benefit of using Infuse is that it uses its own video codecs and therefore can play more video file formats than an app just using the built in iOS video codecs.
Infuse can play video files that are saved in the app, files saved on network shares, or files saved in cloud services (Dropbox, etc.). Here is how to setup Infuse to play files from the HooToo.
In Infuse, click on Settings (gear icon) and then Add Files.

When a USB drive is plugged into the HooToo, it appears under Available Shares as both DLNA_TripMate and TM02. Since the HooToo can share as a DLNA file server, I have files organized in a DLNA folder structure on the USB drive.
When selecting the DLNA Share, you just need to click Save to add it.
The TM02 share uses the SMB (Samba) sharing protocol. For SMB you need to enter the Username and Password that you setup for the HooToo.
Another way to connect is via Network Share.

For the Network Share, the SMB sharing protocol is also used and you enter the connection information manually. Here I use the HooToo address that was shown in the DLNA share.
Connecting to a shared drive or folder on the Mac is similar. The Mac also uses the SMB sharing protocol. When on the same network as the sharing Mac, it will show up as an available share. As before, just provide the Username and Password for the Mac and you are in.
After saving the network share, it shows up now under Add Files as a Saved Share. you can then click on that saved share and see the folders and files within each.
If click on the star to favorite folders and they will show up as shortcuts in the Infuse Files menu.
From here, you can click on the saved folder and find the videos you want to play right from the network share.
Infuse has a Dark Mode in the General Settings if you don't like all of the white in the menus.
