How to watch a DVD image on the iPhone and iPad
It is possible to play a full DVD image right on the iPhone and iPad without ripping the individual video files. Infuse and Infuse Pro by Firecore is capable of playing DVD image formats ISO, IMG, DVDMEDIA, and VIDEO_TS.
As I noted, I rip the DVDs I own and put the video files on a HooToo travel router and a shared folder on a Mac mini to access the videos. There are times when I also want to access the complete DVD and MacX DVD Ripper Pro can clone the disk to an image file (ISO in this case).
After setting up Infuse to access a network shared drive, the app can play the DVD image. Local video streaming of the DVD image file and playing with Infuse works well for me. Infuse can also access several cloud services, but I have not tried streaming a DVD image from there yet.
One drawback to Infuse is that it does not show the DVD menu for selecting video. Infuse starts playing the longest video first when opening the DVD image file. To change to another video in the DVD image, click on the Gear Icon in the upper right corner when playing a video.

In the pop up menu, choose the Video tab and Titles to see the available videos in the DVD image.
Unfortunately, the DVD videos have generic titles and you have to go off of the video duration to make a guess what they could be.
For DVD images of TV shows with multiple episodes, all of the episodes can be lumped together as one long video file.
For TV shows, when you click on the Chapters selection in the prior Video tab, all the episode Chapters for multiple episodes are lumped together here also. It can be a little trial and error to find the chapters where one episode ends and the next begins.
In the pop up Audio tab, there are several options for audio output.
You can turn on the subtitles for the DVD video in the pop up Subtitles tab.
DVD images can be large (7 GB+), but if you have the storage space on your iPhone or iPad, you can download the file to Infuse for offline viewing.
Infuse works great for playing DVD images that I can put up with the minor annoyance of generic DVD titles and the lumping together of TV videos and chapters.
