How to change a VIDEO_TS DVD folder to a Mac DVD Player .dvdmedia image

The .dvdmedia DVD file is the native file extension for the Mac OS X DVD Player application. If you right-click on a .dvdmedia file and select "Show Package Contents", you will see a VIDEO_TS folder inside the .dvdmedia.

Some programs that rip a DVD you own into a digital disk image for your own use generates a video folder with a VIDEO_TS folder inside it. Is it possible to easily change this video folder to a .dvdmedia file for use with Mac DVD Player app?

To change a video folder with VIDEO_TS folder to a .dvdmedia file:
1. Click once on the parent video folder to highlight it
2. Select File > Get Info in the Finder Menu
3. Add the suffix ".dvdmedia" in the Name & Extension field, and click Return
4. Click to confirm the change in the popup window
5. The video folder has changed to a .dvdmedia file

You can also change a .dvdmedia file back to a video folder with a VIDEO_TS folder:
1. Click the .dvdmedia file, and choose File > Get Info
2. Delete the suffix ".dvdmedia" in the Name & Extension field, and click Return
3. Click to confirm the change in the popup window
4. The .dvdmedia file has changed back to a folder with a VIDEO_TS folder inside

Tip: Instead of selecting File > Get Info manually, use the keyboard shortcut Command + I.
